Strong products with long fibers
LFT polyamides from EMS-GRIVORY are long-fiber reinforced structural materials based on the established polyamides Grivory GV and HT1, Grilamid PA12 and Grilon TS.
All products are reinforced with glass or carbon fibers, the length of which corresponds to a typical granulate length of 10 mm. The objective of this is to create a unique web-like fiber structure within the injection-moulded component, which significantly improves the thermal-mechanical properties compared to products reinforced with short fibers.
The products differ by the type of used polyamide as well as the type and quantity of reinforcement. The products are supplied dried and ready to use in bags or octabins. They can be processed using commercially available injection-moulding equipment.
EMS LFT products are used to manufacture structural components with very high requirements. These are characterised in particular by the following properties:
- A combination of high stiffness and exceptional notched impact strength
- Little change in the properties under the influence of temperature or moisture
- Very low tendency to creep
- Excellent permanent strength
- Low warpage
Preferred applications for these LFT polyamides are challenging metal replacement applications. The excellent properties of the proven products supplied by EMS-GRIVORY are increased once again by the reinforcement with long fibers.

Processing through injection-moulding
The LFT products from EMS-GRIVORY can be processed using commercially available injection-moulding equipment and are delivered dried and ready for processing. If the products are exposed to air for any length of time in the feed funnel or open containers, they should be re-dried using dry-air driers to a residual moisture content of 0.08%.
The product is supplied as granules 10 mm in length which allows fully automatic feeding of the equipment. Screws used should have a with a diameter between 25 mm and 170 mm. Each granule contains between 4,000 and 24,000 single fibers which are wetted with polyamide. The excellent impregnation of the filaments allows very long fibers to be used and promotes creation of the typical fiber skeleton within the components.

Approvals
Grilon TSGL-40/4 FA black 9849 is approved for use in direct contact with foodstuffs as per European Directive 2002/72/EC. The product also corresponds to FDA guidelines valid in the USA as well as the requirements of NSF-61.
Further products can be correspondingly modified and approved on request.
Flame-resistant standard products
The LFT polyamides from EMS-GRIVORY also correspond to the flammability rating UL94 HB. The listed products can be found under the UL reference number EMS-CHEMIE E53898.
These products already fulfil the requirements of FMVSS 302 and analogous standards, such as ISO 3795 or DIN 752000, with wall thicknesses smaller than 1mm.
Flame-protected self-extinguishing products
The flame-protected LFT polyamides contain no halogens or red phosphor. They are self-extinguishing and fulfil the requirements of the UL classifications UL94 V0 and UL94 5VA.

Grivory GVL-4H V0 (40% long glass-fiber reinforced, semi-aromatic polyamide)
Grivory GVL-5H V0 (50% long glass-fiber reinforced, semi-aromatic polyamide)
RoHS: The products Grivory GVL-4H V0 and GVL-5H V0 correspond to the requirements as per RoHS (2002/95/EC), Restriction of Hazardous Materials.
WEEE: Components manufactured of Grivory GVL-4H V0 and GVL-5H V0 are exempt from the requirements for selective disposal as per the guideline 2002/96/EC governing disposal of used electrical and electronic devices.
ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 16949
Similar to all other products from EMS-GRIVORY, long-fiber reinforced polyamides are developed and produced according to a comprehensive quality management system as per ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 16949.
